Fleas Navidog!

The phrase stamp is from Viva Las Vegastamps of where else but Las Vegas. Every time I see this stamp I chuckle. Could be because I am an avid dog lover, having a Scottie and a Pom inside and a Blue Heeler outside. (well outside most of the time)
The puppies playing stamp is by Inkadinkado and the pine bough is from PSX, for the new stampers that is Personal Stamp Exchange, a company that we old timers in the stamping addiction miss greatly.

My Vacation

Sorry to have ignored my blog for so long. I have been on a vacation or sorts for ten days. My daughter and a friend spent 8 days off the coast on Hondras on the island of Roatan, scuba diving and supposedly relaxing. I have been staying at their townhouse in Aurora CO taking care of their dogs and spending time visiting various CO friends.

It has been great. I came to some big decisions while here. One of them was to resign from the Stampers Quest Design Team. I can not keep up. This stresses me, Bea and Stephany. Stampers Quest deserves far more than I am able to give them artistically right now. It is better that they find someone who has more time and energy to devote to this fantastic online publication. You may still see something from me there once in a while, but I will not be a regular contributor. For me there are many factors leading up to this. My mother is in hospice, my in-laws are both in their 90's and failing fast, my job as an enumerator for Nebraska Agricultural Statistics has never kept me as busy as it has in the last few months and I have been neglecting my blog.

Share The Journey #1

This phrase is from Viva Las Vegastamps. Oh do I love that store. A truly addicted stamper could stamp for hours and hours. Had I the time and money I surely would have done just that.
The layered scalloped squares are scrapbook papers cut with Spellbinders Nestibilities. The "ribbon" on the right is made using scrapbook papers, card stock, Create-A-Cut paper cutter and an EK Success punch with a dark paper under the two lines of tiny holes. The flouish is a Bosskut die.

Smile

I really really like this card. It turned out very well. The card base front is covered with scrapbook paper and the edges have been sponged with dark brown ink.
The stamp is by Hero Arts. The word smile is an outline that I filled in with a felt tip marker. It has been stamped on a piece of scrapbook paper and layered onto dark brown paper.
The dark brown flourishes are die cuts by Bosskuts. That company has some of my very favorite dies.

With Sympathy

A lot of scrapbook paper used on this design. The card base is covered with scrapbook paper. The With Sympathy image is stamped on scrapbook paper using bronze embossing powder. One of the fun Spellbinders pendant dies was used to cut the large medallion on the left side of the card.

Here is the fun part, when the medallion was combined with the phrase it too us too much space. So I glued it on, let it dry well and then
simply folded it over to the inside of the card and
glued again

Note that there are also pieces of the medallion that were cut outs that have been glued in the lower left and right corners of the card bottom as well.
Why don't I tell you who made the stamp? Well any phrase of the correct size will work. I happened to be needing sympathy cards so that is what I made. It could even be a small picture.

The Wolf

Black and White with touches of color. Very simple and yet very effective.
The wolf image is layer over a pine bough image. The pine image was stamped on the card base and just the pine cones were colored. Sponging was done around the edges of the cardbase and the wolf image.
Yellow colored pencil was used to accent the eyes of the wolf.

Black and White

In an earlier post you saw this same picture in color. Here is the black and white version.
The edges of the picture have been lightly sponged with black ink. It was then layered on black cardstock and a narrow border cut. The next layer is a mesh stamp from B-Line. This was stamped in Soot Black Distressed Ink by Ranger. I then misted it heavily with water to make the ink spread out over the paper. When I had the look that I wanted I immediately began to dry with my heat gun. A craft iron can also be used. Note that the edges of the mesh layer are also sponged with black ink.
The final layer is the card base. A Magenta border stamp was used. And yet again the edges were sponged with black ink.
